Mazghouny & Co has advised Scatec on its early-stage cooperation agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), signed on 02 December 2023, at COP28, for a 1GW solar and 200 MWh battery storage project.
A solar PV and battery storage plant combines two renewable technologies, addressing intermittency challenges, enhancing grid stability, and providing reliable green power through the release of stored energy during peak demand to meet energy needs during periods of high consumption.
Our Energy & Power team has supported Scatec with the drafting of the cooperation agreement for this landmark project and its negotiation with EEHC.
The project successfully obtained the Cabinet approval in its meeting of 30 November 2023, as part of Egypt’s efforts to increase the renewables share in its electricity mix, avoid any power outages, and most importantly free up natural gas for export.
