Donia is the founder and managing partner of Mazghouny & Co. Prior to launching the practice, she was a partner with a tier 1 law firm in Cairo, where she headed the Energy & Projects team. She specialises in energy law, with a focus on energy and power agreements, and regularly advises clients on the development, financing and acquisition of energy and infrastructure projects in Egypt. She further advises on transactional matters, corporate and commercial agreements, joint ventures, corporate structuring, and labour matters notably in the energy and power, manufacturing and services fields. She has recently advised on the first green hydrogen and green ammonia projects being developed in Egypt, and advised sponsors on the issuance of the first green project bonds in Egypt worth USD 334.5 million.
Donia is the Power Law Committee Liaison Officer – Arab Regional Forum of the International Bar Association (IBA), and a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN). She regularly speaks at conferences in and outside Egypt and publishes on clean energy issues.
She holds an LL.M. in International Financial Law from King’s College London, a Master in International and European Business Law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and an LL.B. from Cairo University (IDAI). She is fluent in Arabic, English and French and has fair knowledge of Italian.
